Navagraha Stalams & Kumbakonam Temples Visit - July'12 (Part 2)

28th July'12:

After receiving blessings from Kanjanoor- Agneeswarar temple, visited Thiruvenkadu Swetharanyeswarar temple.

Thiruvenkadu - Swetharanyeswarar temple 
Thiruvenkadu Swetharanyeswarar temple is listed as one of the 275 Paadal petra stalams. It is one of the Navagraha stalam dedicated to Budhan (Mercury).

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Swetharanyeswarar & Goddess Brahma Vidhya Ambal. There is a separate shrine for Budhan (Mercury). We have offered our prayers to all the deities at the temple and then visited Keelamperumpallam Kedhu stalam.

Kumbakonam - Naganathaswamy temple (Temple 116)

Kedhu Stalam - Naganatha swamy
Naganathar temple at Keelamperumpallam is one of the Navagraha stalam dedicated to Kedhu. The presiding deity of the temple is Naganathar & his consort Soundarya devi.

There is a separate shrine for Kedhu Bhagawan, who has head of a snake & body of an Asura. Kedhu here worshiped Shiva to get rid of his sins. Hence seen with folded hands. After worshiping here, visited Thirunallaru Sani Stalam. 

Thirunallar - Darbaranyeswarar temple (Temple 117; Paadal Petra Stalam 18)

Thirunallar - Dharbaranyeswarar temple 
Dharbaranyeswarar temple at Thirunallar is one of the Navagraha stalam dedicated to saneeswarar (Saturn). The temple is revered by the hymns of Tamil Saivite poets and is listed as one of the 275 Paadal petra stalams.

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Dharbaranyeswarar, represented by Lingam, which a Swoyambhu (Self manifested) Lingam. His consort is Praanambigai. The tradition of the temple is to worship Saniswarar before entering the sanctum of Shiva. After worshiping at this temple, visited Bhadrakaali amman temple.

Kumbakonam - Bhadrakaaliamman temple (Temple 118)

Bhadrakaaliamman temple is one of the small temple at Kumbakonam. The presiding deity of the temple is Bhadrakaali, prayed to the deity and then visited Vaitheeswaran temple.

Srikazhi - Vaitheeswaran temple
Vaitheeswaran temple is one of the Navagraha stalam dedicated to Angaraka / Chevvai (Mars). This temple is revered in Thevaram and is listed as one of the 275 Paadal Petra Stalam.

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva as Vaidhyanathaswamy & Goddess Parvathi as Thayal Nayagi. Lord Shiva here is worshiped as 'Lord Doctor' who can cure all the diseases. After offering our pranams at the temple, visited Thirukkadaiyur Abirami amman temple.

Thirukkadaiyur - Amrithakadeswarar temple 
Thirukkadaiyur Amirthakadeswarar temple is revered in Thevaram and is listed as one of the 275 Paadal Petra Stalams.

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Amrithagadeswarar in his manifestation as 'Destroy

er of death' and his consort Parvati as Abirami amman. Sashyaptapoorthi function for everyone used to take place at this temple. Then we got to visit Alangudi - Guru Stalam.

Alangudi - Apatsahayesvarar temple 
Apatsahayeswarar temple is revered in Thevaram and is classified as one of the 275 Paadal Petra Stalam, it is also a Navagraha stalam dedicated to Guru (Jupiter). 

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Apatsahayeswarar  & his consort Parvati in the name of Tribuvananayagi. There is a separate shrine for Dakshinamurthy. Offered our prayers to all the deities here and then visited Seethala Devi amman temple. 

Kumbakonam - Seethala Devi amman temple (Temple 122)

Seethala Devi amman temple 
Seethala Devi amman temple is another small Amman temple where the presiding deity is Seethala Devi amman. Offered our humble prayers to the deity & this was the last temple we got to visit for this Holy Trip.
