Nungambakkam Temples Visit - 14th Apr'17

14th Apr'17:

On this fine day of Tamil New year / Vishu, evening around 4.30 pm, I have started via Ola auto to Nungambakkam & the first temple I have got to visit was Agatheeswarar temple.

Nungambakkam - Agatheeswarar temple is located near the police station in Valluvar Kottam, High Road. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva in the name of Agatheeswar, represented by Lingam installed by Sage Agastya & Goddess Akilandeswari in standing pose.

Other shrines available in the temple are Lord Ganesha, Dakshinamurthy, Lord Muruga with Valli & Devasana, Durga, Lakshmi, Saraswathi, Navagraha & Bairav. Offered my humble prayers to all the deities & then walked to Asalathamman temple.

Asalathamman temple 
Asalathamman temple is located nearer to Agathesswarar temple. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Asalathamman. Worshiped the deity and then walked to Varasiddhi Vinayakar temple.

Varasiddhi Vinayakar temple at Nungambakkam is a very famous temple in that locality. The presiding deity is Lord Ganesha who looks so beautiful & was so powerful. Got blessings from Lord Ganesha and then visited Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple.

Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple is located nearby Varasiddhi Vinayakar temple where the presiding deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu in the name of Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal & Divine Mother Sakthi as Padmavathy Thaayar. 

Other deities of the temple are Sri Ganapathy, Sri Ramar, Sri Bhakta Anchaneyar, Sri Aandal, Garuda Lingam, Sri Ramanujar etc., Glimpsed the wonderful dharshan of all the deities.

  1. There is one more Vishnu temple in Nungambakkam, on the other side of the Valluvar Kottam High Road, by the side of the pond.
